Tracy W. Krohn
Founder, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President
Tracy W. Krohn has served as Chief Executive Officer and President since he founded the Company in 1983 and as Chairman since 2004 and was also Treasurer from 1997 until 2006. He also served as President of the Company since its founding until September 2008 and again since March 2017. During 1996 to 1997, Mr. Krohn was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Aviara Energy Corporation. Mr. Krohn has been actively involved in the oil and gas business since graduating with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1978. He began his career as a petroleum engineer and offshore drilling supervisor with Mobil Oil Corporation. Prior to founding the Company, from 1981 to 1983, Mr. Krohn was Senior Engineer with Taylor Energy Company. In 2013, Mr. Krohn was appointed to serve on the board of directors of the American Petroleum Institute. He also serves on the board of directors of a privately owned company. As founder of the Company, Mr. Krohn is one of the driving forces behind the Company and its success to date. Over the course of the Company’s history, Mr. Krohn has successfully grown the Company through his exceptional leadership skills and acute business judgment.
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Janet Yang was named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in November 2018. Previously, she served as Acting Chief Financial Officer from August 2018 to November 2018, Vice President – Corporate and Business Development from March 2017 to November 2018, Director - Strategic Planning & Analysis from June 2012 to March 2017 and Finance Manager from December 2008 to June 2012. Ms. Yang has over 19 years of finance, investment and strategy experience in the energy industry. Prior to joining the Company, she held positions in research and investment analysis at BlackGold Capital Management, investment banking at Raymond James and energy trading at Allegheny Energy. Ms. Yang received a B.A. in Economics from Rice University and an M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
William J. Williford
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
William J. Williford was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in March of 2022. Since joining W&T in 2006, he has served in various positions of increasing responsibility with the Company, including Reservoir Engineer, Exploration Project Manager, General Manager Deepwater Gulf of Mexico, Vice President and General Manager Gulf of Mexico Shelf and Deepwater, and most recently, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Gulf of Mexico. Mr. Williford has over 20 years of oil and gas technical experience with large independents in the Gulf of Mexico and Domestic Onshore. Prior to joining W&T, Mr. Williford held positions in reservoir, production, and operations at Kerr-McGee and Oryx Energy. Mr. Williford received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Mississippi State University.
Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Jonathan Curth joined W&T in June 2022 as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Prior to joining W&T, Mr. Curth most recently served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary for Vine Energy, Inc. (now Chesapeake Energy Corp.). His prior experience also includes Interim President & CEO, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, Corporate Secretary and Executive Vice President of Land of Vanguard Natural Resources, Inc. (now Grizzly Energy, LLC) and Assistant General Counsel at Newfield Exploration Company (now Ovintiv Inc.). He also previously worked at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP where he was Senior Counsel and at Baker & McKenzie LLP. Mr. Curth is Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has 15 years of experience in oil and gas as an attorney with a focus on domestic and international transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, securities regulations, corporate financing, restructuring transactions, and Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) matters. Mr. Curth received a BA degree from Baylor University and a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law.
