`R_S = V_W / V_V `

Enter a value for all fields

The **Saturation Ratio** calculator computes the water saturation ratio of soil.

**INSTRUCTIONS:** Choose the preferred units and enter the following:

- (
**V**) This is the volume of water._{w} - (
**V**) This is the volume of voids._{V}

**Saturation Ratio:** The calculator returns the saturation ratio (**R _{S}**) as a real number rounded to the nearest 1/10,000

The **saturation ratio** R_{S} is the ratio of the water contained in a sample volume to the volume of voids `V_V` and represents the amount of volume that can still absorb more water. The formula for saturation ratio is:

R_{S} = V_{w} / V_{v}

where:

- R
_{S}is the water saturation ratio. - V
_{w}is the volume of water - V
_{v}is the volume of the voids.

In engineering application the saturation ratio indicate how far from saturation the soil is.
